How to Specify Plant Survival

We try to make it easier for Landscape Architects to specify survival by providing the necessary specifications. Something new of interest is the ROOTS® 1-Step packaging. This product is now available in 4 oz packets, 60 to a bucket, making it easier and simpler for the contractor to ensure survival of the plantings on the site. 

As you know, planting is stressful for every tree or shrub. Even the most careful nursery loses the great majority of the root system in the process of balling. Container stock is better in this regard but has its own problems, being frequently root-bound. And all plants have to send their roots into soil different from the medium/soil they were grown in.

MycorrhizaROOTS™: soluble mycorrhizal inoculant containing live spores of endomycorrhiza and ectomycorrhiza fungi and ROOTS2Ò soluble biostimulant. Contains the following eight species of Endomycorrhiza fungi: Glomus mosseae, Glomus intraradices, Glomus clarum, Glomus monosporus, Glomus deserticola, Glomus brasilianum, Glomus aggregatum, and Gigaspora margarita. DryROOTS^® formula: granular, natural organic fertilizer and biostimulant containing sea kelp, peat humus, composted poultry manure, iron sulfate, magnesium sulfate, vitamins B₁, C and E,    myo-inositol, and Glysine. The natural organic fertilizer has a guaranteed analysis of 3.0% Total Nitrogen (1.0% Water Soluble Nitrogen, 2.0% Water Insoluble Nitrogen), 8.0% Calcium (Ca), 0.5% Magnesium (Mg), 1.2% Iron (Fe). ironROOTS^® w/ EctoMycorrhiza: soluble  mycorrhizal inoculant containing live spores of ectomycorrhiza fungi and ironROOTS2 Ò soluble biostimulant. Ectomycorrhiza fungi consist of Pisolithus tinctorius and  four species of Rhizapogon. Guaranteed analysis of 4.0% Available Phosphate (P₂O₅),  and 12.0% Soluble Potash (K₂O) and 7% Chelated Iron(Fe).  Packaged in a 16 oz. reclosable bag.

ironROOTS^® liquid concentrate: liquid concentrate containing: 2.6% humic substances, 2.0% cold water kelp extracts, 2.7% Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), 0.3% Vitamin B1 (Thiamine), 0.1% Vitamin E (Alpha-tocopherol), 0.4% Myo-Inositol and 0.9% Glycine. ROOTS® Root Dip Gel soluble/gel for treating bare roots seedlings, whips, and trees of all sizes. Product contains live spores of EctoMycorrhizal(9 species) and EndoMycorrhizal (8 species) fungi, as follows:

Thesae spores are combined with water-holding gels and the soluble form of  ROOTS2®  organic biostimulant, which contains sea kelp (Ascophyllum nodosa), humus, Vitamins, amino acids, and myoinositol.

ROOTS2^® 1>2>3 PREMIX: liquid concentrate combination in a proportion of 1 part AGRIplex2® micro-mix ® , 2 parts IronROOTS® concentrate and 3 parts NoburN2® natural wetting agent and soil penetrant. Guaranteed nutrient analysis of 1.4% Available Phosphate (P₂O₅),  2.0% Soluble Potash (K₂O) and 2.2% Iron (Fe).   Packaged in 2.5,15, 30, 55 and 275 gallon containers.

AGRIplex2^® micro-mix^® : fully chelated liquid concentrate containing secondary nutrients and micro-nutrients. Guaranteed analysis:  3.0% Available Phosphate (P₂O₅), 5.0% Soluble Potash (K₂O), 1.8% total Magnesium (Mg) (1.8% Water Soluble Magnesium (Mg)), 3.0% Sulfur (S) (3.0% Combined Sulfur (S)), 0.02% Boron (B), 5.0% Iron (Fe) (5.0% chelated Iron (Fe)), 1.2% Manganese (Mn) (1.2% chelated Manganese (Mn)), and 0.5% Zinc (Zn) (0.5% chelated Zinc (Zn)).  Derived from dipotassium phosphate, magnesium sulfate, iron phosphate citrate, manganese phosphate citrate, zinc phosphate citrate , and sodium borate. NoburN2^® natural wetting agent and soil penetrant: a non-phytotoxic organic surfactant made with yucca plant extract (sarsaponin schidigera). Ingredients include 95.8% Yucca Schidigera extract, 4.0% Depactol Ô ,  0.1% Sodium Benzoate and 0.1% Copper Sulfate.  Packaged in 1,2.5,15, 30, and 55 gallon containers.

ROOTS2 ^® StandUp ^® : liquid concentrate containing Potassium Silicate (7% Silica),Tri-Potassium Phosphate, Potassium Hydroxide and Humic acid.  Guaranteed analysis of 2.0% Available Phosphate (P₂O₅)  and 12.0% Soluble Potash (K₂O).  Package in 2.5 gallon containers.

Fe 8%^® iron chelate: a citrate based chelate which provides an 8% concentration of fully chelated iron in a highly soluble form. Guaranteed analysis of 5.0% Available Phosphate (P₂O₅),  and 8.0% Soluble Potash (K₂O) and 8.0% Chelated Iron(Fe).  Derived from Potassium Orthophosphate and Iron Citrate Complex. Packaged in 2.5,15, 30, 55 and 275 gallon containers.

LAWNplex ^® : a citrate based chelate which provides an 8% concentration of fully chelated iron in a highly soluble form with nitrogen and sulfur. . Guaranteed analysis of 2.0% Total Nitrogen (2.0% Ammonical Nitrogen), 2.0% Available Phosphate (P₂O₅),  and 7.0% Combined Sulfur (S) and 8.0% Chelated Iron(Fe).  Derived from  Iron Citrate Complex and Ammonium Thiosulfate. Packaged in 2.5,15, 30, 55 and 275 gallon containers.

SOLUplex^® Fe water soluble iron supplement: a dry, water soluble fertilizer with Nitrogen, Iron and Sulfur. Guraranteed analysis: 4.0% Total Nitrogen (4.0% Ammonical Nitrogen),   13.0% Combined Sulfur (S) and 15.0%  Iron (Fe).  Derived from Ammonium Sulfate and Ferrous Sulfate. Packaged in a 15 lb. bag.

Greens Grade dryROOTS^® formula: granular, natural organic fertilizer and biostimulant in a fine grade particle for application to golf course greens, tees and fairways. Derived from North Atlantic  kelp meal, humic acid, reather meal, composted poultry manure, rock phosphate, langbeinite, ferrous sulfate, magnesium sulfate, vitamins B₁, C and E, myo-inositol, and Glysine. Sports Turf dryROOTS^® formula: granular, natural organic fertilizer and biostimulant in a coarse grade particle for application to sports turf fields and other turfgrass areas.  Derived from North Atlantic  kelp meal, humic acid, reather meal, composted poultry manure, rock phosphate, langbeinite, ferrous sulfate, magnesium sulfate, vitamins B₁, C and E, myo-inositol, and Glysine.
